Why Motivation Doesn't Last If you are one of those people who get discouraged about motivation that doesn't last, look at it this way: your LUNCH didn't last either. But you aren't going to quit eating just because one meal didn't nourish you for a lifetime. Should personal development have to be a life-long commitment?

Things Undone When there's 'stuff' from our past affects our self-confidence, sometimes it's better to process that first before launching a quest for creating wealth.

Exposing Yourself to an Experience If you're always strapped for time or money, then you have a "program" to make sure that never changes. I hope we are all striving for something better in life, whether it is better physical health, better financial health, or healthier relationships. If we are not reaching for SOMEthing, our state of growth turns rather into a state of decay.

However, sometimes we decide we want a better life and start right where we are to begin the journey toward our goal. There's nothing wrong with doing that, per se. However, if there's 'stuff' from our past that has affected our self-confidence, it just might be better to process that stuff first. It's like having rocks in our backpack which make our journey more difficult.

I'm not going to define 'stuff'. If you have some, you probably know what I mean. I'm not so much talking about situations where we've been victims... that's not the kind of stuff I'm talking about, although holding grudges can certainly count for some seriously heavy rocks.

While that kind of stuff definitely needs processing, often the solution to dealing with that kind of stuff lies in a redirection of focus coupled with a different perspective on it. (The 'stickman' illustration as described in our live or recorded Principles of Prosperity Intro at http://www.thoughtsalive.com/events.php can help you understand how that works.)

Lest I get too far off on a tangent, I'm talking about the kind of stuff that we have personally been responsible for. If we've done something we regret, and have not 'taken care of it', then our self-confidence is damaged and our ability to have faith in reaching our goals is adversely affected, too.

You may or may not be a religious person, but I believe it is important to get our hearts right with our Creator before we launch an all-out quest for the abundant life. If there are 'things undone' in our life that need repair, our conscience knows it, and it's such a wonderful thing to throw our energy into making things right to the best of our ability first.

By doing so, we put our hearts in the right place, and we can be confident that our purpose for seeking abundance is for a good and worthy reason. As it says in Matthew 6:33: ' But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things (everything you are concerned about) shall be added unto you.'

With this added confidence, your ability to hang on to a dream with faith in yourself, and in God who helps you, will be stronger than ever.

I picked this topic today because of a great lesson I heard on Sunday. It posed the question: when we make a mistake, do we try to excuse it and cover it up? Or do we take responsibility, confess it completely to whomever we must, and face the consequences?

Imagine this: if you have a pile of dirt, and you want to hide it, will covering it up with more dirt take care of it? No. It only makes the pile bigger and more conspicuous. While it appears you've successfully covered it up, you've only made the problem bigger.

A wonderful speaker by the name of Richard G. Scott said it this way: 'Do not take comfort in the fact that your transgressions are not known by others. That is like an ostrich with his head buried in the sand. He sees only darkness and feels comfortably hidden. In reality he is ridiculously conspicuous.' God knows, the ‘Universe’ knows, and YOU know.

And, I will add that a person's self-esteem and confidence will be much lower than if they seek the courage they need to face the music, make things completely right as best they can, and restore their self-respect. Life on the other side of it is full of light, it is free, it is liberating, and worth whatever price it takes to finally do the 'things left undone'. It is worth risking one's relationship with another human to make things right with one's Creator. In fact, in reality, our relationships with those we love can actually be strengthened in the long run when we do our best to put ourselves right with God. After all, being in the right with God is the only thing that really matters anyway. Another way to put it is: being true to your conscience.

I want you to succeed. I want you to experience abundance in all areas of your life, including financiallly. I think many of my readers are Christian (not all, but many), so I'm also going to include another passage that may help those who are: 'And after ye have obtained a hope in Christ ye shall obtain riches, if ye seek them; and ye will seek them for the intent to do good.' (Jacob 2:19)

Now, this is an unusual topic for my newsletter, I know. I also realize this message isn't for everybody right now, but it may be for somebody. To embark on a quest with a bakcpack full of stones can be exhausting and frustrating. Let's keep our loads as light as we can along the way by identifying each stone we carry, taking it out, putting it down, and leaving it behind.

Now, what if someone notices you have stones in your backpack? How mortifying that could be!!! But realize this: everyone does at one time or another in their life. And in truth there is more shame in carrying them around in secret than there is to taking them out and putting them down, even if people around us get a glimpse. In fact, it just might inspire someone else to have enough courage to do the same.

There are amazing, wonderful, abundant blessings awaiting each of us. Let's take care of things undone, so we can move forward and claim all there is to enjoy out of life. If there’s fear associated with considering such a step, understanding the “stickman” illustration can be VERY empowering. To understand fear and how to deal with it, learn about the stickman through one of our free intros. We even have a recording of one of our past events available if you can’t attend a live event near you. Click Here for more info.

Remember: If you want something to change, something's got to change.
